Parent to Parent Devotional
A Word from Other Meadow Park Parents
"Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting." Psalm 139:23-24
Every time I read this passage, I am convicted anew that I need to look inside myself and ask God's help in identifying the sin in my life. No, I'm not an ax murderer, nor do I even cheat on my income tax; but sin dwells in me.
My biggest battle is with pride. I am blessed with spiritual and natural gifts and often take the credit myself instead of remembering that all I have and all I am are God's doing, not mine. His word reminds me to be constantly on guard against this sin, whose consequences are spelled out in Proverbs 16:18:
"Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall."
