Current Culture Image
Current Culture ImageThis Axe body wash ad appeared on the back cover of the March 2009 issue of Blender. Images of several young adults appear in a storyboard fashion. They are intended to provide a visual description of their previous "wild" evening activities. The four separate storylines each tout a different Axe body wash - Fever, Recovery, Shock, and Snake Peel - and tagline that corresponds with the photos. The taglines read "Get Caliente with Fever," "If you can't remember the night before remember Recovery," "Wake the f%*# up with Shock," and "Scrub away the skank with Snake Peel." The ad sends the message that using the proper body wash will help reconcile former debauchery.

The Contemporary Christian

The Contemporary Christian is John Stott's definitive and passionate plea to the Church. Before we attempt to teach or evangelize, he urges, we must listen to God's Word and God's world. Only then will we be able to communicate the authentic gospel effectively. An important resource as we attempt to proclaim the gospel in a postmodern world.

Being a Twit. . . .
Posted by Walt Mueller, 2/11/2009

So I'm walking through our church foyer the other week when I'm flagged down by a couple of mothers of teenagers. They wanted to know my opinion of Facebook. They weren't the first to ask. It seems that it's one of the first questions to pop up everywhere I go. . . . . "What should I do about Facebook?"...

Youth Culture Hot Quote
Taylor Swift"The kids at school thought it was weird that I liked country - they'd make fun of me. Junior high was actually sort of hard, because I got dumped by this group of popular girls. They didn't think I was cool or pretty enough, so they stopped talking to me... I played a hometown show about a year into my career, and they (the popular girls) showed up, wearing my T-shirts and asking me to sign their CDs. It was bittersweet, because it made me realize that they didn't remember being mean to me and that I needed to forget about it, too. And really, if I hadn't come home from school miserable every day, maybe I wouldn't have been so motivated to write songs. I should probably be thanking them!"
